The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders in Kiambu County want Tharaka Nithi senator Kithure Kindiki given the deputy president position in Kenya Kwanza’s government.

The leaders said Kindiki, a second-term senator, has a track record of proficiency in his endeavours both in politics and administration.

Speaking at Soul Harvest Church in Kiganjo, Thika, during celebrations to mark the ordaining of Reverend Naftali Karimi, the politicians led by former Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a argued that the time has come for Mount Kenya to reward Tharaka Nithi County residents.

They argued that the county has massively voted for the mountain’s preferred candidate in every electioneering period.

They said that Kindiki, who dropped his gubernatorial ambitions, to join Kenya Kwanza national campaign team has served Kenya with dedication, and resilience and a time for him to serve at a higher political office is ripe.

Kindiki's profile

Born in 1972, Kindiki holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Pretoria, South Africa.

He has a Master of Laws in International Human Rights Law and Democracy from the same university which he acquired after he graduated with a Bachelor of Law from Moi University.

“It is time for the mountain to pay Tharaka Nithi which has been massively supporting the vote-rich region vote in the region’s preferred presidential candidate. We now want to give back and we want Kindiki who has resiliently and gallantly served this nation given the position,” the former MP said.

Ng’ang’a's sentiments were echoed by Anne Wanjiku Muratha who is seeking the Kiambu County Woman Representative position on the UDA ticket. She urged fellow Mount Kenya leaders and residents to rally behind Kindiki.

Other potential running mates in the hopeful Kenya Kwanza government are Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi among others.
