The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has launched a massive registration campaign in the county of Kisumu.

According to Bernard Odhiambo, UDA's interim coordinator in Kisumu, about 5,000 members have been registered in the excise.

Odhiambo who said that the exercise was smooth noted that UDA is aiming at registering more than 10,000 members from the lake region.

However, the interim coordinator told journalists that the only challenge the party is faced with is double registration.

"There is another group led by the Regions point man which is registering members yet they are not registered themselves," Odhiambo said.

The interim coordinator appealed to Eliud Owalo, UDA's point man in Nyanza to stop the warring between the two factions.

Registration of new members in Kisumu comes after Deputy President William Ruto's allied party campaigned for its candidate in the Kiambaa by election on Saturday.

Led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, UDA lieutenants campaigned for Njuguna Wa Wanjiku, it's flag bearer in the July 15 by-elections.
