Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki now says Raila Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua will not change the support of Kenya Kwanza in Central Kenya in favour of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party.

Kindiki, who was one of the front runners to deputise William Ruto in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, said the support United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has in the region cannot be changed overnight.

“I doubt she (Karua) will be able to turn the tide of UDA and Kenya Kwanza, not even in Kirinyaga.

"She will not withstand the tide of Kenya Kwanza. It is too strong,” Kindiki said when he appeared in a local television station on Tuesday night.

Kindiki praises Karua

Kindiki, however, credited Karua for illustrious legal career, civil service and ministerial duties.

“I have crossed paths with Martha Karua. I have worked with her briefly in the Ministry of Justice.

"I know her as a person and as a professional. She is my senior in the legal profession, she is decent and I have a lot of respect for her,” he said.

He added that Karua, despite being a Kirinyaga native, will find it difficult to sell the Azimio agenda to Mount Kenya people.

“For the first time the use of ethnicity as the organizing principle of our politics has been dismantled, so those who think that Karua can turn the tide anywhere because she speaks a certain language are wasting time,” he stated.

Kindiki further maintained that he will not be seeking for any elective seat or appointment after August polls.
