Uhuru allied Jubilee leaders accuse Murathe, Tuju of mismanaging party
A section of Kiambu Jubilee political party members have accused its vice chair David Murathe of running the outfit like a personal property and called for his immediate resignation.
They said that party Secretary General Raphael Tuju should as well be sent parking claiming that the duo are to blame for the party's waning popularity.
They spoke in Kiambaa sub county on Saturday during a party consultation forum where they formulated how to campaign for the party's candidate Kariri Njama ahead of area parliamentary by election slated for July 15, 2021.
The members laid bare their frustrations in the hands of the party top organs as they campaign for the candidate but exuded confidence that the party will garner 70 per cent of the votes.
"Murathe has owned the party whereas the party belongs to the people. We are tired of party hopping every elections years and that's why we demand that Jubilee party should be popularized and nobody should hold us hostage," Munira wa Munira.
The party members urged its National Executive Council (NEC) to call for party elections promptly noting that the fact has no formal officials had made it impossible for them to popularize it.
"The party has no structures and hence members finds it hard to communicate with each other and more so the national office," said Munira.
Abdi Hussein, a resident of Ruaka said that the party would not rely on outsiders to campaign for Njama adding that he is the most popular and suitable candidate.
"We have started a campaign team called Jubilee Reloaded and are conducting door to door campaigns. We don't need external forces bacause they are not conversant with the grassroot," he said.
Last week, Limuru MP Peter Mwathi rubbished assertions that Jubilee Party has neglected its Kiambaa parliamentary by-election candidate.
He said those making the claims are either misinformed or out to malign names of certain leaders hoping to gain political mileage and probable financial gains.
He was reacting to claims by Bishop Kariuki Ngare alias Gakuyo who is the Kiambu governor James Nyoro's political advisor that Jubilee leaders in the county have given the by-election campaigns a wide berth thereby exposing it to possible loss to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Njuguna Wanjiku.
Mwathi said that the party has its own strategies which do not include being physically present in the ground during the campaign trails.
