However, notably missing on the list are justices Aggrey Muchelule, George Odunga, Weldon Korir and Prof Joel Ngugi.

"In excercise of the powers conferred by Article 166 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya, I, Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Baari Christine Noontatu, Gakeri Jacob Kariuki and Keli Jemima Wanz to the Employment and Labour relations court," the notice read.

In June 2020 Uhuru came under attack from the Judiciary and the Law Society of Kenya over his refusal to appoint 41 judges nominated by the Judcial Service Commission (JSC).

In Uhuru's defense was Attorney General Kihara Kariuki who said the President would not appoint judges with questionable character.

"His Excellency the President will not abdicate his role as Head of State and Government to appoint persons with a questionable record to serve the nation in the solemn role of judge,” the AG said.
