President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday received visiting President of the Republic of Hungary János Áder and his wife Anita Herczegh at State House.

President Áder arrived at State House at 10:00 am and inspected a guard of honour.

"The Hungarian leader, who arrived in the country on Sunday for a four-day State Visit, was accorded an elaborate State reception that included a guard of honour mounted by a detachment of the Kenya Air Force and a 21-Gun Salute," a statement by State House said.

In an announcement last week, State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena said Kenya was honoured to welcome the visiting Head of State saying Kenya shares a lot in common with the Central European nation.

“Kenya and Hungary enjoy warm and strong bilateral ties dating back to 1964 when Hungary established an Embassy in Nairobi,” Kanze said.

Ader, 62, is also expected to visit Ghana this week.

He has been leading the country since May 10, 2012.
