UK soldier gagged from publishing book on Dusit
A former Special Air Service soldier has been restricted from releasing a book giving his account of how he helped to defeat Al Shabaab terrorists in Kenya during the Dusit D2 attack.
MailOnline reports that the soldier, known by his pseudo name, Christian Craighead, to protect his identity, wanted to publish an account of the January 2019 raid by five terrorists at Dusit D2 Hotel Complex that left 21 people dead.
For his actions in reaction to the attack, he was given the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross, the bravery decoration second only to the Victoria Cross.
He launched a legal challenge on the ban that had been imposed by Defence Secretary, claiming it was a breach of his freedom of speech.
However, Craighead was prevented from releasing the book with high court judge Steyn, saying the ban was meant to protect the Special Air Service trade craft and for the interest of national security.
The book, titled; One Man In The Explosive; Firsthand Account of a Lone Special-Ops Soldier Who Fought off a Major Terrorist Attack in Kenya, was set to be released this year.
