The United States will not interfere with the election processes in Kenya, acting ambassador to Kenya Eric Kneedler said yesterday.
The envoy affirmed that America will work with the leader who wins the presidency in 2022.

“Whatever the outcome of next year’s General-Election, America is ready to continue to engage and work with the winner,’’ he said adding:
“That is the prerogative of the voters. It is up to them to gauge and or evaluate the candidates based on their leadership acumen and vote,” Kneedler told journalists in Kisumu .

Electoral malpractices
“We know that Kenyans are capable of making informed and independent decisions. For us, we will ensure that there is electoral credibility,” he said, noting that the US will not influence the vote.

Kneedler disclosed that already, there were several American election monitoring bodies which had expressed interest in supervising next year’s election. “We are going to support them to help the people guard against electoral malpractices that would compromise the doctrine of free and fair polls,” he stated.
