Vihiga Bullets, Kenya Police unseparable going into final day of the campaign
After 37 rounds of pulsating action, the Betika National Super League reaches climax on Sunday with all eyes on Vihiga Bullets and Kenya Police as they seek the last available direct ticket to join FC Talanta in the Premiership promotion.
The pair are tied on 61 points but Bullets have a superior goal difference of +3.
In their last fixture of the season, Bullets face Kibera Black Stars at their Bukhungu backyard while the Law Enforcers are away to Migori Youth.
All matches look easy on paper but any slip would prove costly from either of the two with the unlucky one slated for playoffs.
Bullets are in the form of their lives in the run up to the season climax, winning all three of their last three match with a goal haul of 13 during the short spell as their top scorer Jackson Oketch now has 15 goals so far.
However, Bullets head coach Edward Manoah has warned against laxity towards the decisive match.
“We just have to ensure we win our last match to be sure. Three points can make a huge difference so that is what we will be going for.
Black Stars are a very good side going by our past encounters but I know they will see a different side on Sunday.
I keep telling my players to keep their heads up until the job is done, we cannot afford to be complacent,” said the former AFC Leopards tactician.
Meanwhile if the unthinkable happens, and both Police and Bullets fail to pick points, then Kisumu All-Stars will need to score at least five unanswered goals to ensure that the Law Enforcers miss out even on Playoffs.
All-Stars who are fourth on the standings with 58 points are at the Moi Stadium against 13th placed Mully Children’s Family FC.
Bullets could still be lucky if they end up losing due to their current impressive average score that puts them on 62 goals.
Promoted FC Talanta will finish their mission in the second tier at GEMS Cambridge Grounds against 12th placed Gusii FC and then afterwards being feted with the winners trophy.
Talanta have 68 points in the bag with Ken Kenyatta relishing a return to the big time,five years after his last sojourn with the now defunct Ushuru FC.
“It has been a long journey and I want to thank my players for their commitment throughout the season; this is all on them.
Now it is time to prepare for another challenge in the Premier League because the first thing for us is to survive the chop. I know we will be ready to put up a fight,” he said.
