Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru has attacked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Twalib Mbarak following his response to her complaints regarding impartiality in the war against corruption.

In his response to Waiguru's call, the CEO issued a statement noting that her social standing on corruption was in the public domain.

"Governor Anne Waiguru's comments are extremely shameful, as Kenyans know her well, including her social standing on integrity," Mbarak said.

In a subsequent re-joinder, the Kirinyaga governor heavily criticized the CEO stating that he lacked professionalism to execute his mandate further terming him a peddler of the "Everyone Knows" narrative.

"Your response to my complaint came as a shock for its irresponsible and pedestrian content. You hold a constitutional Chapter 15 office which demands the highest level of impartiality and professionalism,

"Your reckless response on such a serious matter proves your unworthiness to hold such a serious office. You are supposed to be an impartial investigator, not a peddler of “everyone knows” village shopping centre narratives," she wrote.

Waiguru asks for evidence

Waiguru additionally implored Mbarak to stop fighting her politically asking that he provides evidence supporting the integrity allegations.

The governor was among the 241 aspirants flagged by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for integrity issues.

Following the revelation of the list of candidates flagged, Waiguru claimed that the latest predicaments were linked to her political stand.

She added "Were it not for constitutional safeguards that separate investigations, prosecution, and adjudication, EACC on behalf of their Harambee House Masters would have hanged some of us for moving to UDA, "
