Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni Wamuchomba, yesterday defended Governor James Nyoro who has fallen out with a section of Ward Reps and other county leaders.

Some of the MCAs and leaders have accused him of bad leadership, arrogance and refusing to exercise accountability.

Wamuchomba said Nyoro, who took over the county leadership in January following the impeachment of Ferdinand Waititu over graft and poor management, should be given time to deliver.

The Woman Rep said it was wrong for a section of leaders in the region to train their guns on the governor, and accused them of engaging in early 2022 campaigns, which are likely to lead to embarrassing wrangles that will derail the county’s development.

“Let Nyoro work, 2022 we will all meet in the public arena and ask him questions. Stop disturbing him.

I am one of those who have been uncomfortable with Deputy President William Ruto for engaging in an early campaign and therefore, I will not support anyone fighting Nyoro this early. I believe in giving leaders chances,” she said.

A leadership row is simmering in the county whereby, Nyoro accuses MCAs of witch-hunt and being motivated by jealousy in their pursuit for accountability.

The MCAs on the other hand say the county chief is arrogant.

She also took issue with Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina who she accused of leading a war against  the governor. He told him to give Nyoro an opportunity to deliver.

Nyoro and Wainaina have not been reading from the same script with the later accusing the former, of allegedly destroying projects done by his Jungle Foundation.
