Businessman Jimi Wanjigi yesterday called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti to stop wasting time and present
himself to prison.

Speaking in Meru County during a campaign tour, the Orange party politician said he was wondering why Kinoti is still free even after he was
sentenced to four months in jail for defying a court order.

Kinoti was sentenced on Thursday after he was found guilty of defying a court order compelling him to return firearms confiscated from Wanjigi in 2017.

Addressing residents, Wanjigi said it is not in his nature to comment on matters before the court, however, he lauded the Judiciary for giving
a clear ruling on the case in which the government accused
him of being in possession of firearms illegally.

“I wonder what Kinoti is waiting for. He should go to
prison because the ruling was made by the court and nobody is above the law,” said Wanjigi.

He added: “The law should be applied to all and sundry equally. I have been fighting this case since 2018 and now that the issue is between the court and Kinoti, i do not want to say more," Wanjigi said.

Justice Chacha Mwita had in 2019 ruled that the government acted illogically by carting away Wanjigi’s guns while he still held a valid licence.

Addressing more than 200 delegates at Meru Slope Hotel, the tycoon maintained that he is ready to fight for the ODM presidential ticket
against party leader Raila Odinga.

Wanjigi at the same time said party rules are very clear
and must be adhered to.

“We have invested heavily in this party, so if it does not follow its own Constitution, we will fight to ensure democracy prevails,” he added.
