Sobbing Pastor Margaret Wanjiru slams UDA gov’t for church demolition
Former nominated Senator Margaret Wanjiru has laid blame on the Kenya Kwanza government following the demolition of her church, Jesus is Alive Ministries.
Wanjiru blamed the current administration which she campaigned for during the 2022 elections.
Accompanied by members of the public, the former Starehe Member of Parliament said the government had turned against her even though she was their key supporter in the last General Elections.
"Wametuaribia mali yetu, wametunyang'anya simu zetu na wametuumiza kabisa. Hii serikali ya Kenya Kwanza ndio tulipigania, I was among the chief campaigners for Kenya Kwanza, and I was the very first people that started and sold His Excellency William Ruto.
"Truly, I was not campaigning for land grabbers to start claiming that our church properties are their property. We cannot lose property in this country," Wanjiru told the press.
The pastor claimed the demolition was supervised by members of the police service.
"Na ni wengi, wamekuja wamesema ni NIS, wengine DCIO na wengine wanasema ni polisi.
"So, definitely, the government is involved, and it is very sad that this is the government we campaigned for. I am yet to believe that they can do this to me.
"Wametupiga wametuumiza and now I have to go to the hospital. Saa nimekunywa painkillers ndio nifike hapa and I have to rush to the hospital, nione vile nitatibiwa miguu. It is very sad," she added.
She further claimed there is no direct communication on why the Jesus is Alive Ministry's premises have been invaded but said those conducting the exercise said they were sent by the Kenya Railways Managing Director.
"No one is telling us why they are here, wansema tu wametumwa na MD wa Railways. MD wa Railways anafaa kujua hapa hakuna property ya Railways. Anafaa kujua kuna Mungu mbinguni.
"If anybody in the Kenya Kwanza government can dare touch my property, je wale raia hawana mtu wa kuwasaidia? Serikali yetu yenyewe ndio inatupiga. Where are we going to tu?" she asked.
Mwago's sentiments
Starehe Member of Parliament Amos Mwago was present and pointed figures at powerful individuals in the government.
"I have been a member of this church since nikiwa mtoto mdogo and there has never been an issue. They have come and invaded this place, and they do not have a court order.
"They are just claiming that they are acting on orders from above, and it is good that they have admitted it. There is a force behind it.
"The MD's office is about 200m from here and should have come to tell us openly, but there is a force behind it. There is nothing here short of land grabbing," the first-term MP said.
