Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi has declared that he will run for Nairobi governor seat in 2027.

Presiding over a funds-drive in aid of Siaya’s St Pantallion Catholic Church, Wanyonyi said he will not let anybody ruin his bid to unseat Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The lawmaker who revisited circumstances that led to his stepping down in 2022, vowed to take his competitors head on in a fair playing ground. “As soldiers of Azimio leader Raila Odinga, I had to honour the captain’s order and shelve my bid in favour of his preferred candidate,” said Wanyonyi, adding that the idea did not kill his spirits but strengthened him to fight another day in 2027.

The preferred candidate for Azimio was Polycarp  Igathe, who turned out not to be good enough in the eyes of the electorates.

“Though, Sakaja won the seat, residents of Nairobi are not satisfied with the way he has been driving affairs of the city and most of his supporters have approached me to go for the post.  I am certain that with the backing of Nairobi residents, I will dislodge Sakaja from the seat,” Wanyonyi declared.

Wanyonyi (pictured) who was accompanied by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi and his Sirisia’s John Waluke said he was aware of the kind of services city residents require and was ready to take up the challenge. He took the opportunity to woo residents of Siaya who reside in Nairobi not to abandon him in the 2027 polls.
