Ruth Matete lost her husband John Apewajoye.

It’s been a week since gospel singer Ruth Matete lost her husband John Apewajoye.

But people won’t let her mourn in peace, as allegations continue to be levelled against her on social media that their five-month marriage was marred with violence.

Speaking to Spice yesterday morning, Ruth’s father Abel Amunga said as family, they were protecting the former Tusker Project Fame 5 winner from the “propaganda” being propagated on the social media.

“We cannot allow her access the kind of propaganda being pushed on social media right now and that’s why we even have her phone.

As the father-in-law, I couldn’t follow up on what was happening in their marriage, but we are not bothered by what’s being said on the Internet.

Our mission right now is to comfort Ruth and let her grieve her husband,” he said.

Amunga said a postmortem was yet to be conducted on John’s body, but talks with his family were in progress to determine whether he would be buried in Kenya or Nigeria.

John allegedly succumbed to burn injuries he sustained from a gas explosion at their Athi River home.

“The guy who is saying Ruth had stabbed John is just malicious. John has never been to hospital with a stab wound.

The matter is now with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Ruth is available for any questions that may arise,” her lawyer Robert Odanga of Odanga and Partners Advocates told Spice in a separate phone call.
