Western Kenya leaders ask Uhuru not to spare anyone in war against corruption
Leaders from former Western Kenya have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta not to renege on the War on Corruption and said replacing the fight against the monster with loyalty pledges will slow the gains made.
They said to win the war against Corruption in Kenya, all greedy government officers, crooked businessmen, and thieving politicians should not be sanitized as it is being witnessed.
''These are merely corrupt political creatures who have put the country into bad light through stealing from the public coffers and running to be sanitized. This must stop, we are seeing those who are alleged to have looted national coffers in mega corruption being sanitized with 'Mwosho Mmoja','' They said in a statement read by Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi.
Speaking in Kiminini constituency, the leaders underscored the need for the unity of the people from the Mulembe Nation with Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa maintaining that the region will be soon unveiling a presidential candidate.
''The Luhya nation is not a cow to be taken for auction, we are having two kingpins Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi who will be telling us who among them will be our flagbearer," he said.
Trans Nzoia county MP Janet Nangabo challenged both Mudavadi and Wetangula to speak in one voice and walk the talk, telling them that if they fail the community she will grab the opportunity to take up a stab at the Presidency.
''I'm challenging my brothers Musalia, Wetangula, CS Eugene and Governor Oparanya to unite and rally behind one of them for the Presidency instead of infighting and if they fail, I will be taking the lead since there is nothing that can stop me from leading,'' she said.
Lugari MP Ayub Savula, however, renewed the push against the theft and plunder that has continued to characterize the government and told those telling the community to join the government in order to benefit to stop lying.
''As a farming community, our concern has been drawn to the systematic manner in which the economy of Western Kenya has been brought on its knees. It is our position that a commission of inquiry be established to summon the powerful people in this land to help us expose the rot,'' he said.
He called for the prosecution of all governors from the region who have allegedly misappropriated close to Sh50 billion placed in the five devolved units of Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, and Vihiga.
"We are asking relevant county assemblies to play well their oversight role and send packing any governor who will be found to have mismanaged public resources meant to improve the lives of the electorates,'' he said.
Mt Elgon MP Fred Kapondi asked the Western block to start negotiations with the Rift Valley block towards making a coalition and said the time for the western region to produce the President had come.
''I'm the seniormost Sabot leader in this country, having served for long. I'm in Jubilee and my presence here means a lot. Luhyas are the second largest community with the Kalenjins becoming fourth. Our unity will help propel one of us to the presidency''', he said.
