Western, Ukambani residents most confident with their MPs

Ukambani and Western represent regions whose residents expressed confidence in the performance of their Members of Parliament (MPs). 

Four MPs from Ukambani Vincent Musau (Mwala), Patrick Musimba (Kibwezi West), Robert Mbui (Kathiani) and Erastus Nzioka(Mbooni) are among the top 10 in the list of top ten.

With 39 per cent approval, Paul Nzengu (Mwingi North) is rated as the worst performer in Ukambani.

The others including Vihiga’s Omboko Milemba who was rated the top performing MP, Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East) and Khwisero’s Chris Aseka come from Western region.

David Pkosing (Pokot South) Peter Lokachopong (Sigor), both from Pokot also put the marginalised region, among those with leaders who had earned the confidence of their constituents.

At the Coast Benjamin Tayari of Kinangop, Khatib Mwashetani (Lungalunga) and Naomi Shaban (Taveta) were rated  average performers  .

In Nairobi, Imran Okoth of Kibra led the pack followed by Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands), Julius Muwathe (Embakasi  South) and  John Theuri of Embakasi West.

“Kibera’s Okoth could be enjoying the fruits of the development gains made by his brother-the late Ken Okoth,” said Infotrak Chief Executive  Officer Angela Ambitho.

In North Eastern, constituents expressed confidence in the work of Adan Keynan (Eldas)  followed by Mohammed Dahir of Daadab and his Garissa Township counterpart Aden Duale.

The worst

In Nyanza, Public Accounts Committee and Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi recorded 66.6 approval rating followed by James Nyikal( Mark Nyamita( Uriri), Olago Aluoch (Kisumu West).

Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri is ranked as the worst performing MP in Kisii followed  by Jimmy Angwenyi of Kitutu North.

The report has given the central region which is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard an overall performance of 50. 4 per cent.

According to the report, in Kiambu County, Kabete’s James Wamacukuru is ranked as the best performer with 66.5 per cent while Lari’s Jonah Mburu is ranked as the worst 38.2 per cent.

Outspoken Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah who was removed as the Budget and Appropriations Committee chairperson, allegedly over his perceived association with Deputy President William Ruto,  is second in the list, having attained a score of 60 per cent while Gatundu South Moses Kuria who is Uhuru’s area legislator is number three on the list, having attained a score of 55.3 per cent.

In Kirinyaga County, Kirinyaga Central MP Munene Wambugu is ranked as the best performer at 61.8 per cent while Ndia’s George Kariuki is ranked as the worst performer in the county with 42.7 per cent.

Low score

In Murang’s County, Maragwa’s Mary Wamaua is ranked as the best having scored 56. 8 per cent while Kangema’s Muturi Kigano is ranked as the worst performer having attained a score of 36.3 per cent.

Interestingly Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kandara MP Alice Wahome have been ranked at position two and three having attained a score of 56.5 per cent and 51.4 per cent.

In Nyandarua County, Ol Jorok MP Michael Muchira is the best performer with 54.2 per cent while Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni is ranked last having scored 46.4 per cent. 

Leader of Majority and Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya is ranked at second last having scored 46.7 per cent.
