Detectives said they believe the 49-year-old woman, also the deceased's wife and her two sons and a daughter whose ages range between 23 and 28 will help them unravel the murder.

In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) on Sunday, Charles Thairu Kinyanjui was murdered on September 8, with his eldest son Sospeter Kinjanjui as the prime suspect.

"Following the murder of the late Mr. Charles Thairu Kinyanjui on 8th Sept 2020 at Barnabas area in Nakuru where three suspects; his wife, son and daughter have been in custody, the prime suspect 28-yr-old Sospeter Kinyanjui Thairu who is the deceased's eldest son & who has been on the run since the heinous act yesterday surrendered himself to detectives, with several exhibits being recovered from his hideout," read the statement.

Police said they found inconsistencies in the circumstances surrounding the murder.

The deceased is said to have been found unconscious in his car in a pool of blood just outside his home. Inside the house, detectives said they found blood stains in one of the bedrooms.

The wife and two of the children said they found their father unconscious and rushed him to Mediheal Hospital where he was immediately pronounced dead.

The family members(mother and two children) were arrested but the eldest son is said to have disappeared. Upon his capture and interrogations, police found the suspected murder weapons.

Police have incarcerated the family as they wait to arraign them.
