Women challenged to prioritise breast, cervical cancer screening

Women have been urged to give screening of breast and cervical cancers a priority.

This follows alarm raised by the Ministry of Health over the low uptake of cancer screening among women.

Rotary Club of Hurlingham President Veronica Ndumbi said late diagnosis is to blame for prevalence in cervical and breast cancer.

Speaking at Kikopey Dispensary in Gilgil on Saturday during a free medical camp, Ndumbi said the event was developed to help tackle
inequalities in the uptake of breast cancer screening.

“I want to call upon our women, of child bearing age, to be screened. Cancer can be treated when detected early,” said Ndumbi.
