After 13 exhilarating rounds, the 2020-2021 Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League regular season comes to an end today with seven fascinating final matches lined up.

While Vihiga Queens, Thika Queens, Nakuru Queens, Gaspo Women, Wadadia and Ulinzi Starlets have secured their place in the post regular league season play-offs, and SEP Oyugis Ladies, Kibera Soccer Ladies, Oserian Ladies, Makolanders, Eldoret Falcons, and Mathare United Women, having been relegated, there is no shortage of storylines and drama to keep you enthralled until the final whistle as four teams battle in the season finale to finish second.

With Vihiga Queens having hit unassailable 37 points in Zone B and Thika Queens having collected all 39 points from 13 matches in Zone A, the duo have received byes and will start their playoffs in the semifinals, leaving the final sprint for the top-two finish to Wadadia and Nakuru Queens in Zone B as well as Gaspo Women and Ulinzi Starlets in Zone A to battle out.

Before last weekend’s matches, Ulinzi Starlets were second on the table but a 1-0 defeat to Gaspo saw them drop to third as Gaspo moved second.

To fancy their chance of finishing second, Ulinzi will have to beat Zetech Sparks at Ruiru Grounds to stand a chance of recapturing their second-place and finish the regular league season on a high and pray that Gaspo drop points when they host relegated side Makolanders Ladies at Stima Members Club, Nairobi.

Rejuvenated Gaspo will not, however, give in the fight but will face Makolanders with one aim of winning the match to maintain their grip in second-place.

In Zone B, a 6-0 drubbing by Nakuru Queens saw Wadadai’s second-place threatened as they are only a point better than Nakuru and any slip up against wounded Kisumu All Starlets at Mumias Sports Complex could see Nakuru dislodge them from second-place if Nakuru will register a comfortable win against already relegated SEP Oyugis Girls at Nakuru Show Grounds.

In the final fixtures, which are just but formalities, Mathare United Women are scheduled to host unbeaten and Zone A leaders Thika Queens at Camp Toyoyo, Kibera Soccer Ladies welcome Kayole Starlet at De Paul Ground, Nairobi, with defending champions Vihiga Queens entertain Trans Nzoia Falcons at Moi Stadium, Kisumu, with all seven matches set to kick off at 11am.
