Malawi COVID-19 cases pass 100
Cumulative confirmed figure of COVID-19 cases in Malawi has reached 101 from 83, with 18 new cases confirmed on Monday.
Minister of Health and Population Service Jappie Mhango announced this in his daily COVID-19 update, saying 13 of the patients are Malawians who returned from Zimbabwe.
Four deaths and 37 recoveries have been recorded since the first cases were confirmed on April 2, while active cases of the pandemic are at 60.
According to the Public Health Institute of Malawi, 3,324 samples have been tested across the country so far.
The leap of COVID-19 cases to over 100 cases has left public health structures in the country worried, especially with social distancing not being strictly observed in the ongoing political campaigns which are drawing thousands together as the date for fresh poll nears. (Xinhua)
