Namibia launches commemorative bank note to celebrate independence

Namibian President Hage Geingob presents to the public the commemorative banknote issued

 Namibia on Saturday launched a commemorative thirty Namibian dollars note symbolizing the reigns of their three presidents to commemorate the country's 30 years of independence.
   

The note which will be introduced in the market showcases the reigns of Namibia's power transitions from former President Sam Nujoma Hifikepunye Pohamba to the current President Hage Geingob.
   

Launching the note Namibian central bank governor Ipumbu Shiimi said the idea of the note was conceived to celebrate the country's peace and stability.
 

"We as the Bank of Namibia believe that country has a lot to celebrate as we celebrate our independence. We can not take for granted the smooth power transition that we have experienced. We are sitting on the shoulders of great leaders," he said.
   

Shiimi added that the Bank of Namibia will go on country wide tour to market the newly minted. (Xinhua)
