Tanzania reports first COVID-19 death

Tanzania on Tuesday announced the country's first death from COVID-19.
   

The victim, 49, died at Mloganzila hospital, a COVID-19 treatment facility, said Ummy Mwalimu, Tanzania's health minister.
   

Mwalimu said in a statement the patient had prior health complications, adding that as of Tuesday the nation had 19 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including the one death and a patient who recovered.
   

Five new cases were confirmed on Monday, the minister said. (Xinhua)
