Youngster Mejja joined Tusker to play with brother.

Former Green Commandos Star Henry Mejja says playing alongside his brother Sammy is the reason he settled on Tusker FC.

The youngster had attracted the interest of a number of clubs such as AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz after starring in the Malala Cup last year but he settled on Tusker when many thought he would chose the other  two.

“It was an easy move for me as I also saw Tusker as a good club that will offer me playing time as a young player as opposed to the other teams that opt for experienced players and also have much pressure from their fans,” Mejja told People Sport from Kakamega at the weekend.

He added: “I want also to give thanks to Senator Cleophas Malala (Kakamega) who really stood by my side and assisted me to make the right decision.

This will see me realise my dream as a young player with the great ambition of playing for big clubs in Europe.”

“I want to assist my club Tusker to win titles by scoring goals but it’s all about teamwork. It will make me happy to see if we win as a team and not just personal accolades,” said Mejja.

Mejja also singled out former Kakamega High School coach Brendan Mwinamo and his the technical bench for helping him get where he is while promising to work hard to realise his full potential.

Malala has also tipped Mejja to shine at the local level and beyond, saying he has what it takes and just needs to remain focused to succeed.

“I am very pleased to see him join one of the top sides. I believe he has what it takes to shine in the Kenyan Premier League and I want to wish him the best of luck as he commences his journey in the top flight,” Malala said.
