Volleyball fans are set for an action-packed weekend as the 2023/2024 KVF National League playoffs enters its quarter-final stages.

Matches will be distributed across two iconic venues, Nyayo and Kasarani Stadiums, the latter hosting all the men’s fixtures and two women’s fixtures while the former will host two women’s National League playoff clashes.

Teams eyeing the coveted semifinal berths are set to battle out in a best-of-three series, beginning on Friday, May 24 to Sunday, May 26. This means each team must win at least two matches to proceed to the semifinals.

This also marks the first time the league is taking the three-match format, allowing eight teams in the playoffs compared to the traditional four.

This, however, throws a spanner into the works, the longer league playoffs format will see matches spill into June.

According to the FIVB calendar, National Federations are required to run their competitions between October and May to allow national teams ample time to prepare for the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) which is held between June and July.

National team assignments can stretch all the way to August and September in case of any Olympic, continental or World Championship engagements. This than allows players to join their clubs for the local leagues which kick off in October.
