AFC Leopards on Sunday defeated champions Tusker 1-0 in their opening 2021/22 Football Kenya Federation Premier League match at the Thika Sub County Stadium.

Sudanese international Musa Saad’s scored the lone goal for Leopards as the Patrick Assumes coached side secured the much-needed points.

Tusker on the other hand missed a golden opportunity to force a draw as Boniface Muchiri shot wide with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Leopards were missing their key players, but the available men under assistant coach Tom Juma stepped up to deliver the three points.

However, Leopards appeared dangerous in counter-attacks as they orchestrated surging attacks from both flanks, with Caleb Olilo and Peter Thiongo’s missing clear goal scoring opportunities.

It is alleged Leopards players had not trained for the last three days, demanding salary arrears running into months.

Despite late attacks from champions Tusker, Ingwe held on for what will definitely be a morale-boost win heading to the new season.
