AFC Leopards advanced to the semi-final of the Football Kenya Federation Cup after fighting back to beat Compel FC 3-1 at Dandora Stadium on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

Compel stunned the Premier League giants by scoring an early goal, but Ingwe fought back to score through Kayci Odhiambo and Arthur Gitego. They will now face Kenya Police in the last four.

Meanwhile, Phillip Simiyu scored for Compel, and although Ingwe were shell-shocked by the powerful shot, they reorganized, became solid, and quickly started looking for an equaliser.

Ingwe had their chances in the 19th and 23rd minutes, but the lower-tier side managed to clear both chances before Gitego could pose any threat inside the penalty area.

After an insistent attack against Compel, AFC Leopards restored parity when Odhiambo headed into the net with a cross that was delivered by Clifton Miheso.

Ingwe took the lead late in the first half when Gitego scored the second goal. Randy Bakari, one of the lively players on the Premier League side, delivered a cross that the Rwandan just needed to connect with and slot home.

Gitego got on the scoresheet again when he scored the third goal for the Ingwe. Miheso spotted Jaffery Owiti, who in turn laid the ball in the path of Hassan Beja.

The signing from Nzoia Sugar spotted Gitego on the left before the latter launched a shot that landed in the net.

Sharks win

In an earlier encounter, Kariobangi Sharks defeated SS Assad to book a place in the last four.

John Makwatta scored the only goal that separated the Premier League and the National Super League sides at Dandora Stadium.

Sharks, the 2018 winners of the cup, broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute, and the Eastlands side held tight to the slim lead to the end of the game.

John Makwatta scored the goal when he took advantage of a half-chance before he slotted home.

SS Assad were not intimidated by Sharks throughout the game and persistently launched attacks against their top-tier opponents. Hemed Mwatsinga was a lively threat against Sharks and created more chances that his teammates failed to convert into goals.

Sharks would have enjoyed a healthier win had chances by Geoffrey Onyango, Julius Masaba, and Moses Shikanda been converted into goals. SS Assad's goalkeeper, Ngare Said, stood tall to deny the Sharks attackers by making top saves.

The NSL side could have equalised had they found the back of the net with a late chance that Lazo Ngale failed to capitalise on in the 86th minute.
