Kenya will be seeking to upset defending Victoria Cup champions
Zimbabwe in an exciting fixture at the Nakuru Athletics Club (NAC)

The last time the two sides met, Zimbabwe narrowly beat Kenya 30-29 in
a match played on August 2, 2019 in Harare, Zimbabwe.

At the moment Zimbabwe sit top of the standings with 17 points, one
ahead of hosts Kenya with Uganda and Zambia closing up the
four-nation-tournament.

The Simbas are now geared up on to revenge on home soil and make
strides towards winning the title.

Yesterday Nakuru Rugby tournament coordinator Edward Moseti said
everything was set for the match and they expected many funs to turn
out and support the home side.

“Adequate security and logistical preparations are already in place
and we expect around 10,000 spectators to grace the match,” said
Moseti.

Two homegrown players from Nakuru will be featuring in the match and
this will be a motivation for other Nakuru players to take up the
sport.

The events manager commended the array of sponsors in the corporate
sphere and rugby enthusiasts locally for supporting the team all
through.

Nakuru becomes the second town from Kisumu to host the international
fixture outside the Nairobi in 2019.

This is part of a strategic plan by the Kenya Rugby Union to
decentralize the sport and ensure it reaches those that live outside
Nairobi.

Kenya Simbas first international fixture in 2019 which was against
Uganda was hosted at Mamboleo Grounds in Kisumu County.

Uganda Cranes who have completed their Victoria Cup fixtures sit third
with 15 points while Zambia are fourth with zero points as they are
