Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe showcased his prowess on the pitch once again, this time for his club Viborg, as they secured a convincing 3-1 victory against Hvidovre in the Super Liga on Sunday.

The Kenyan international, who played a crucial role in helping Harambee Stars clinch the Four Nations title in Malawi, carried his excellent form back to his club side, contributing significantly to their triumph.

Anyembe's maiden goal

Anyembe's goal marked his fourth appearance for Viborg since returning from injury, which had sidelined him from October 2023 until March 2024.

His return has undoubtedly bolstered Viborg's defensive line and added potency to their attacking prowess.

In the encounter against Hvidovre, Viborg faced some early pressure from the visitors, who managed to create a few promising chances with crosses into the box.

However, Viborg's defense held firm, and they soon capitalized on a defensive error from Hvidovre in the 23rd minute. Isak Jensen intercepted a clearance from Hvidovre goalkeeper Adrian Kappenberger and found the back of the net to give Viborg the lead.

As halftime approached, Viborg intensified their attacking efforts, with Anosike Ementa, Serginho, and Isak Jensen all testing the Hvidovre goalkeeper with dangerous shots.

Jensen also got on the scoresheet just five minutes later, extending Viborg's lead to 3-0 with a clinical finish.

Several VAR checks added to the drama, including a decision to overturn a red card for Viborg goalkeeper Nico Mantl.
