Venice Marathon winner Judith Korir and road running specialist Edwin Kimutai emerged the winners of Sixth edition Kalya Half over the weekend in Makutano, West Pokot County.

Fresh from winning Kakamega Marathon a week ago, Judith braved the sunny morning heat to win her third title beating Tuskys 10km Great Road Run winner Naomi Chebet.

Judith has now turned her focus  to compete for Kenya and is optimistic that one day she will get a chance to represent the country.

The runner from Elgeyo Marakwet county cut the tape in 76:34 as Betty Chepkemoi was placed second clocking 76:40 while Rachael Chebet was third in 77:27.

“The course is too hilly and the sunny weather did not give me good time to run my best race. But I thank God I emerged the winner. If I look at the time, it was not good for me,” said Belgrade winner.

Men’s winner Kimutai lived to the pre-race predictions as he edged out 2017 winner Cosmas Birech and home boy Kalpus Lomoi to win the title timed 65:01. Kimutai said he has been running the race for the past three years without luck.

“This is my first win after competing on this course for three years. This is also my first brace to win since I started my running career,” said Kimutai with a lot of excitement.
