Bandari hosts a rejuvinated Mathare United side in Mbaraki as Bidco hope to fry Gor in Thika
Bandari FC has had the infamy of being inconsistent in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League but they are determined to cast away the spell in the penultimate round before the 2020/21 season folds.
Twahir Muhiddin, the Technical Director of the team that is placed in the third position, said that they should not be judged by the change of curves in performance, adding that they are determined to wind up the campaign in the top three.
“We have made tactical progress and have learned the transitional play tactics.
We have worked on finishing and the frailties seen in defence. Our recent displays should not be used as a measuring rod of our destiny in the league,” said Muhiddin.
He also urged the team’s faithful not to read too much in the 3-2 defeat by National Division 1 side FC Shell in a friendly match at Mbaraki Sports ground last Thursday.
Today at the same setting, Bandari, who have accumulated 46 points from 29 matches, face 15th placed Mathare United in what is an acid test for the dockers who returned to their winning ways recently by whacking Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1.
Muhiddin has called for caution by his charges despite the fact that they will be enjoying home ground advantage.
“We cannot afford complacency and especially given that we are facing a team that is trying to evade relegation.
We’ll play our usual game and although we have experienced players as compared to Mathare, we have to respect the visitors,’’ said Muhiddin.
However, Bandari will be disadvantageous in the match as they shall miss influential defender Hassan Iddi although the team’s Head Coach Andre Casa Mbungo has several replacements at his disposal.
In the meantime, the talk of Thika amongst football fans in the cosmopolitan town is the double header involving some of the most enterprising teams in the league.
At 1pm, Sofapaka, who are placed 13th in the chart after a 29-point haul, take the battle to Wazito before Gor Mahia lock horns with Bidco United thereafter at 3.15pm.
Gor deputy coach Sammy “Pamzo”Omollo is pretty confident the team can get something from the match but nonetheless pointed out that the worst they can do is to get carried away by their current subtle displays.
“All the time in football, what you did the other day does not really matter. It is what you are able to contribute to the team now and most importantly which shall help the team to post the desired results,” offered Omollo.
In the other match, Sofapaka who have practically been blowing hot and cold face a tricky test against Wazito who will be battling to move up the standings from the eighth position in the chart.
At Ruaraka, Posta Rangers will face City Stars in a match that shall bring together two evenly balanced sides.
