Football Kenya Federation Premier League giants Gor Mahia have received a huge injury boost as the title race heads towards the final stretch.

Emery Bayisenge, Philemon Otieno, and Patrick Kaddu have returned to action after being sidelined for a considerable time by injuries.

The three were involved in the friendly match against Ulinzi Stars. Gor Mahia won the match involving their A team by a margin of 2-1, while the other game with the B team saw a 2-2 draw being posted.

Of the three injured players, Bayisenge and Kaddu have been out longer, while Otieno has been sidelined for the shortest period.

Head coach Johnathan McKinstry is pleased by the return of the three.

"Sort of everyone got minutes, you know; obviously, Philemon’s been out for a little while; he got 15, 20 minutes. Emery Bayisenge and Patrick Kadu all got sort of 45 or 60 minutes today.

"So we're pleased that all of the guys that had little knocks or even longer-term injuries are well on the road to full recovery," McKinstry told the club's media platforms.

The Premier League-winning coach analysed the friendly match and pointed out their strengths and weaknesses.

"So I thought overall we played really good football, especially in the first game. Probably in the first 15 minutes, our opponents were thinking, you know, they'd forgotten what the ball looked like in the first 15 minutes because we really didn't give them a lot of it,” he added.

Murang'a Seal are Gor Mahia's next opponents in the Premier League, and McKinstry has revealed how they will approach the game.

"But we also know that we've got to be wary because if we are too confident or if we don't focus enough going into any of these games, starting with Muranga Seal, they can punish us.

"They're a good football team. Their venue there is a great field, which we're looking forward to playing on," the tactician continued.

Gor Mahia enjoy a nine-point advantage and are in a good position to win the league again and lift a history-making 21st title.
