Boxing Federation of Kenya: Action galore as boxing returns full swing

Kenyan boxers have a busy schedule in 2022 starting  next month when the National Novices Championships for all counties take place in Nairobi between February 16th and 19th.

The Boxing Federation of Kenya has released a calendar of events for 2022 with the key highlights being the Commonwealth Games that will take place in Birmingham, England, between July 28 - August 8.

In total, BFK has lined up 22 events after a devoid of proper action locally due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme has seven international meetings for both men and women. The National Boxing League will have only five rounds with the first competition being held in Kitale on September 1-3 and the fifth event being held in Kisumu on December 10-12.

Some of the key events that will involve the national team (Hit Squad) will include Africa Zone 3 Championships to be held in Tanzania in March, Africa Championships to be held in Tunisia between March and April, and the Global Boxing Cup to be held in Russia between April and May.

Other key events include IBA Women World Boxing Championships to be held between May 6-21 in Istanbul, Turkey, Under 22 Zone 3 Africa Championships to be held in Burundi in September.

The last global event for Kenya’s national team will be the IBA Youth Men and Women World Championships to be held in La Nucia Spain, in November at dates yet to be confirmed.
