Former Homeboyz star player Alvin “Buffa” Otieno is among players that have been signed by Kenya Cup league champions KCB in the team’s bid to successfully defend the local titles.

Otieno, an alumnus of Kakamega High School, was a stand-out player for Homeboyz in the local sevens circuit and was voted the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Safari Sevens a fort night ago, is expected to add invaluable experience at KCB’s set-up.

After leaving school, he was snapped up by Western Bulls before Homeboyz came knocking for his services due to his almost unequaled power and speed.

Also on KCB roster is another Homeboyz player Bob Muhati who was an instrumental player in the 15’s side.

The other newcomers are led by Kenya Simbas international Brian Wahinya and Nakuru duo of Bramwell Kilwake and Elvis Olukusi.

According to KCB officials, the latest development was informed by a challenging 2021 season where they registered an official first Kenya cup match loss to Kabras (30-23) before returning at the same venue to eclipse Nandi Bears thus reclaiming the title.

KCB Rugby club confirmed the signings on Tuesday after long anticipation of the Homeboyz duo that has shifted despite their former club returning to the Kenya cup league competition after missing out on the 2021 season played by the other 11 sides.

Kiklwake and Olokusi are by and large expected to add a lot of impetus to KCB line-up and especially given their leadership skills with Nakuru.

The duo had also been part of the squad that shocked Kabras 20-17 the same season at Impala grounds.

As Kilwake and Olukusi were landing at the KCB Den, the grapevine had it that the team was also another Nakuru player in centre player Maxwell Kangeri before official reports filtered in that he has retired from the game.

It was also anticipated the Bankers would rob the Deejayz centre Maxwell Kangeri but the scoring machine has opted to hang his boots instead.

Before the latest recruitment, KCB had roped in dependable stars from Homeboyz including Simbas front-rower Patrick Ooko, Felix Ojo, Michael Wanjala and Johnstone Olindi all who were part of the squad that shocked Kabras 28-25 to defend the Kenya cup title two months ago.
