League giants National Cereals and Produce Board and Ulinzi Sharks ladies teams continued to shine as they posted impressive results during the return of the 2022 National Handball League played at Nyayo Stadium yesterday.

NCPB survived a scare following their 28-23 victory over Navigators after leading 14-09 at the break.

Joan Akinyi and Lenah Njeri were in sizzling form scoring eight goals apiece in a match that collectively saw 53 goals netted. Opposite goalkeeper Rose Achieng had a torrid time with lots of errors from her defence costing her heavily.

Sarah Mabonga on her part had a six goals contribution for the Cereals Ladies team with three of the starters failing to get on the scoring book. On the other end, Elizabeth Alungati was the lead scorer for Navigators with seven goals to her credit.

Sharon Akoth came in second with five goals as they pushed their opponents to the very last ball play.

However, NCPB opened a defendable gap and ensured their defending was up to par with their custodian Jackline Wanjiru making important blocks in the game.

In another clash, the Ulinzi ladies team shredded Amazon 34-07 in what was a one-sided game.

Euphrasia Mukasa was the top scorer in the game with eight goals as the Sharks went hammer and tongs at their lacklustre opponents.

Amazon had forayed into enemy territory on such few occasions since, for most of the part, the soldiers pinned them at their own base.
