Since their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup by their respective opponents, Gor Mahia and Tusker are reading from different scripts in the FKF Premier League.
While Gor have raked in four points after succumbing 2-1 on aggregate to Otoho D’Oyo of Congo Brazzaville in the continental event, Tusker have yet to find their footing and have only earned a single point after being vanquished by CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.
However, Gor left a lot to be desired during the Jamhuri Day weekend marked by bumper eight matches as only a week after making short work of Vihiga Bullets by hitting them 3-0, they dropped points in a barren draw with Bandari at Nyayo National Stadium.
Like Gor, Tusker were sailing in the same waters, settling for a similar score line with Sofapaka and worst still at the brewers backyard in Ruaraka.

Reverse fixture
Gor deputy coach Sammy “Pamzo” Omollo rued the missed chances but nonetheless noted that a draw was a fair result given that Bandari appeared to have given their all in the encounter.
“We had chances which would have altered the outcome of the match had the players converted them. Obviously, we were gunning for all three points because there is still room for improvement ahead of our next match against Kakamega Homeboyz,” offered Omollo.
The match was of fluctuating fortunes with Gor’s Jules Ulimwengu and enterprising youthful defender Dennis Ng’ang’a coming close as was Umaru Kasumba for Bandari.
However, for Gor they should be glad that Bandari have not beaten them in the last meetings, a record they will be hoping to maintain during the reverse fixture on February 27, 2022.
Having said that, the success by Gor enabled them to cling to the top spot of the league with 18 points from eight matches.
As for Tusker, they will have to pull their socks ahead of their next fixture against Nzoia Sugar on December 19.

In the meantime, pride of place goes to KCB and Posta Rangers which were the only teams which registered maximum points in the weekend.
KCB gave their fans something to celebrate on the national holiday when they beat Ulinzi Stars 2-0 while newly-promoted FC Talanta saw their giant-killing tag erased after losing by the same margin to Posta Rangers.
The result saw KCB move to the second position with 18 points, the same as table-topping Gor, but with an inferior goal aggregate.
In Kakamega, AFC Leopards came near yet so far to grabbing maximum points against basement team Vihiga Bullets, but made a costly mistake towards the end when they conceded a penalty for the two to share the spoils at 1-1.
