A one-day basketball camp on Saturday will culminate with two lucky young players getting a rare opportunity to study and play the game at some of the best schools in America courtesy of Big Dream Vision who will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in Kenya.

The tourney set for Kasarani indoor Arena is targeting boys between 12 and 17 who will be eligible for scholarships. The expected turnout is between 200 and 300 participants in the age bracket.

In addition to those looking to land the scholarships, Big Dream Vision has also organised a men’s and women’s tournament for players above the age of 18 up to 35 years.

“We have four men’s teams expected to compete for a prize only of Sh100,000. They include Mombasa, Kisumu All Star teams and two more teams in Nairobi. The preliminaries this tournament were held earlier and this is the climax,” said Big Dream Vision founder Ismael Omondi

The women’s category has the finalists, two teams from Nairobi that will compete for Sh 50,000 in prize money. Both categories will have a trophy and medals for the winners as well as Most Valuable Player (MVP) for each category,” Omondi said.

Omondi said that while his organisation’s focus is on offering opportunities to study and play outside the country, they are also keen to change how the sport is governed since not every young talented person can get a chance to play abroad.
