Nairobi City Stars' leading goal-scorer Vincent Owino is confident that he will reach double-digit goals in the FKF Premier League by the end of the season.

With seven goals to his name, Owino leads the Simba wa Nairobi scoring chart, edging out forward Dennis Oalo by one goal and trailing the joint league top scorers by five.

“We still have a number of games to go, and I am determined to grab more goals and catch up with those at the top,” Owino said, expressing optimism about his goal-scoring prospects.

“It's been a few months since I scored, but that will soon change.”

Owino's last goal was scored in February against Bandari, confirming a double over the dockers. His performance has also earned him two match MVP awards this season.

In other news, City Stars' dependable defender Edwin Buliba has returned to action after a three-and-a-half-month hiatus due to injury.

Buliba had been out since January 2024, following an FKF Premier League matchday 19 tie against AFC Leopards in Bukhungu, Kakamega.

Initially suspended for accumulating yellow cards, Buliba's absence was prolonged by an injury during training, causing him to miss a total of eight games.

Boost for City Stars

"I have been out recuperating from an injury, but I have since been given a clean bill of health by the team doctors," Buliba said.

"I am fully fit now and have resumed full training. My focus is on regaining my place in the team for the remaining league games."

Before his injury, Buliba had played in 15 games this season, accumulating 1,206 minutes on the field. Over his four seasons with City Stars, he has appeared in 55 top-flight games, making him one of the team's most experienced players.
