Nelson Odhiambo was the difference after coming in at number three for Kanbis as his batting steered his team to a six-wicket run in the T20 finals of the Nairobi Invitational Championship.

Kanbis who lost the toss had the enviable duty of chasing 139/5 set by Ruaraka Sports Club and after the break had Kenya international Odhiambo (67 off 51 balls) to thank after his sumptuous innings at Sikh Union Grounds.

The third wicket stand between Odhiambo and Narendra Patel set out for a good chase of 59/2 in 10 overs following dismissals of experienced partnership of Dhiren Gondaria who only combined for a disappointing score 07 off 10 balls.

Good knocks

Kanbis were helped mostly by the fact that the bowling attack in the latter stages failed to click. Kanbis got Ankit Hirani’s hit go for a single to earn the Eastleigh side a figure of 140/5 on the board.

In the early innings, Ruaraka were lit with the batsmen hitting good knocks. Incidentally Vabniv Patel (61 off 54 balls) got a similar top score just like Kanbis man Nelson Odhiambo as he steered his side to a good start from position four.

Despite being trapped leg before wicket in the 11th over by Narendra Patel’s low delivery, the Ruaraka bowler got off to a rapturous applause.

It was a good sparring particularly on the crease with especially both bowling units playing great. The batting numbers were also impressive particularly from Kanbis.
