Kenya might not be represented by a team at the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL), that goes down in Rwanda from Sunday, May 16, 2021, but the country will be fully represented by its own talent in DJ Poizon Ivy. Yeey!

Kenyan-born Ivy Awino, affectionately known as DJ Poizon Ivy of NBA side Dallas Mavericks will be on the decks to pump up the crowd as 12 teams compete for the coveted championship gong in the majestic Kigali Arena.

She announced the news on her social media platforms, terming the BAL assignment 'Very Special'.

The talented deejay balances deejaying on air, on main concert stages, at select nightclubs and lifestyle venues, for celebrity and for corporate clients, and now combining with hosting, interviewing and modelling. As an international DJ, Poizon Ivy has much love for diverse music, incorporating all genres into her sets and radio mixes.

She first came to the limelight when she started hosting a self-titled weekly online radio show; “Poizon Ivy after Dark” on WMUR in 2010 at Marquette University’s student-run radio station.

The Kenyan lass then rose in ranks, winning gigs in largest concert stages at Milwaukee’s Marcus Amphitheatre to become one of the most on-demand deejays in US.

In 2016, Ivy joined the Dallas Wings as their in-arena DJ during the Women NBA’s historical 20th anniversary season. She then became the Dallas Mavericks’ first female team DJ in franchise history, and is the second female DJ in NBA league history to achieve that feat.

Catch all live actions on K24 TV from Sunday, May 16 to May 30, 2021.
