Ferdinand Omanyala sends message to fans after failing to shine in World Championship

Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala is candid about the disappointment his fans might be feeling regarding his performance at the World Championship in Budapest.

Despite the high expectations, Omanyala finished seventh in the men's 100m final race.

Acknowledging the letdown, Omanyala emphasized his commitment to focusing on the future and improving his results.

He noted that there's no way to change the past and expressed his determination to rectify his performance in upcoming races.

"I know many are disappointed by the results but there is no way we are going back in time. We just have to accept what happened and see if we get better next time," he said in a post-match interview.

In the championship, Omanyala faced challenges, including a slow start from the blocks that affected his chances. He finished the race with a time of 10.07 seconds.

Despite this setback, Omanyala remains resilient and aims to learn from his experience, working on areas that need improvement.

He mentioned that his body didn't perform as well as it did in previous rounds, emphasizing the need for evaluation and correction.

"I really can tell what happened today. My body wasn't firing from the semis like it did yesterday. We just have to go back, evaluate and see where to correct," he added.

Omanyala has already secured qualification for the Diamond League Final in Eugene, scheduled for September.

He will also participate in the Diamond League event in Xiamen, China, on September 3, with the season's final stop being the Diamond League finals in Oregon, USA, on September 15.
