At some point in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League, KCB were at the frontline and looked less likely to put their feet off the gas pedal.

But gradually, as the top tier league intensified, their performance went south and whether they had flattered to deceive can only be ascertained at the end of the top-tier league.

KCB are currently perched in the fifth position in the chart with 23 matches and are behind Gor Mahia, Nairobi City Stars, Tusker and Kakamega Homeboyz.

Despite the floundering fortunes, the bookmakers’ take is that chances of the team winding up among the top three are all there,

Yesterday, the team’s Head Coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno said in no uncertain terms that their objective to take a stab at the title is still intact, adding that they will burn the midnight oil upon the resumption of the league to achieve their ambition.

Speaking after the team’s visit to Mazodep Children’s home in Kibra, the former Harambee Stars trainer said he is optimistic his side will bounce back to winning ways.  “We haven’t been registering good results in the past few games, this is normal in football but having taken enough rest, we expect positive results. We had our objectives set at the beginning of the season and we’re still within the set objectives.” said Otieno.

He admitted that the team has experienced a lackadaisical spell recording several draws but expressed optimism they shall recover sooner rather than later.
