The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has confirmed the postponement of two Premier League matches that were set to be played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on May 5, 2024.

Kenyatta Stadium is one of the venues that has hosted a number of top-flight matches, providing an alternative when the Nayo Stadium and Moi International Stadium in Kasarani are not available.

On Sunday, Posta Rangers vs Talanta FC and Nairobi City Stars vs Ulinzi Stars matches were set to be played in Machakos, but due to a waterlogged pitch, they have been postponed.

"Two FKF Premier League matches scheduled for today at Machakos Stadium have been postponed due to heavy rainfall.

The affected fixtures, Posta Rangers vs FC Talanta and Nairobi City Stars vs Ulinzi Stars, will be rescheduled for a later date, to be communicated soon.

"FKF is closely monitoring the weather conditions. The new dates for these matches will be communicated when suitable and safe conditions for all involved are ensured," the federation said.

New update

The FA will give a further update on when the postponed matches will be played. The matches are expected to be played in the mid-week in order for the teams to have time to prepare for their Week 29 games over the next weekend.

"Further updates will be provided through our official communication channels," the statement added.

On Saturday, May 4, two matches were played at Kenyatta Stadium. In one of the games, National Super League sides Naivas FC and Vihiga Bullets clashed there before Sofapaka and Shabana clashed in a later game.

Tore Bobe emerged as the winner after beating Batoto ba Mungu 1-0, a result that took them out of the relegation zone.

FKF is also expected to give a new update on the NSL matches between MCF and Nairobi United. This game is scheduled to be played at the Machakos venue.

On Monday, May 6, Tusker and Nzoia Sugar were scheduled to play at Kenyatta Stadium, but a new arrangement saw them relocated to Dandora Stadium in Nairobi.
