The much awaited Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League is set to resume tomorrow after Caretaker Committee gave a green light.

According to the Aaron Ringera led committee allowed the resumption of the Kenyan Premier League and National Super League respectively starting Saturday.

Ringera announced the committee will provide partial logistical support to the Premier League teams that will be participating.

"We received your requests for funding from FKF Caretaker Committee to help with some logistics of resumption of league fixtures. We note, however, that because of the limited resources available at this moment in time, for a start the FKF Caretaker Committee has agreed that it will provide Ksh300,000 for each of the Premier League Clubs and Ksh250,000 for each of the National Super League football clubs," Justice Ringera said.

Justice Ringera further informed the clubs that any review or changes to the Committee's offer would be communicated "in the near future when necessary".

Defending champions Tusker and league leaders Gor Mahia will not be involved this weekend owing to their CAF Confederation Cup assignments.

On that note, the two league fixtures against Bandari and Posta Rangers respectively have been postponed.

However, at Utalii Grounds, winless Wazito will host unbeaten Ulinzi Stars, who have never lost to the Nairobi-based club in the top flight as Mathare United play newly promoted FC Talanta at Kasarani while Kenya Police will be up against Sofapaka.

Nairobi City Stars host second-placed Kariobangi Sharks in a 1pm kick-off at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday, with Nzoia Sugar hosting Kakamega Homeboyz.

The new fangled FKF Caretaker Committee had on November 12, 2021 suspended all top tier football leagues for a period of two weeks.

In a press statement the committee said that its members unanimously decided to suspend; The FKF Premier League, FKF National Super League, FKF Division One, FKF Women's Premier League and FKF Women's Division 1 League.

The resumption comes after suspended FKF President Nick Mwendwa stepped aside a fortnight ago.

In a letter on Tuesday, Mwendwa handed over the duties of the federation to vice president Doris Petra.

"In light of the foregoing, specifically, the frequent arrests and detentions, which have adversely affected my family and personal business and whilst I am confident I will be cleared of any wrongdoing in the end, I have today in accordance with Article 42(8) of the FKF constitution (2017)asked my Vice President Madam Doris Petra to assume all functions of the FKF president," he wrote.

He added: "Taking into consideration that I am personally being targeted in all this, my decision, has been arrived at with the federation’s best interest at heart."

He said the case he was facing had affected his family and businesses.
