Brewers add to dockers woes, piling more pressure on Mwalala
Tusker piled more misery on Bandari in the 2019/2020 Kenyan Premier League after inflicting them a 1-0 defeat at a rain-drenched Ruaraka grounds yesterday.
Bandari have now gone five matches without a win which has raised concern among their fans.
Tusker were the better team in the match played on an atrocious pitch conditions occasioned by heavy morning rains and it was least surprising when Humphrey Mieno scored their only goal in the 60th minute.
It was Timothy Otieno who did the donkey work when his shot outside the box was spilled by Bandari goalkeeper Michael Wanyika and Mieno, who was lurking in the box, rifled in from close range.
Bandari created three chances in the opening 15 minutes through William Wadri, Hamis Mwinyi and Benjamin Mosha all which went to waste.
As the match wore on, Tusker looked the likeliest side to score and twice, Timothy Otieno was denied by evergreen Bandari defender Brian Otieno.
In the 19th minute, a move by Bandari that was initiated by Cliff Kasuti was cleared to safety by Harambee Stars defender Hillary Wandera who later limped off with an injury and was replaced by Eric Ambunya.
Dipping header
Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala introduced Darius Msagha for Benjamin Mosha and Patrick Mugendi for Kasuti but the changes did not bear fruit.
Elsewhere at Kericho Green Stadium, hosts Zoo FC had little mercy for the visitors Kisumu All Stars, beating them 3-0.
Derrick Anami opened the floodgates for Zoo with a dipping header in the 30th minute before second half substitute Sammy Gglolola stretched the lead in the 68th minute.
All Stars seemed on course for a face-saving goal but were taken aback with 10 minutes left when they conceded the third goal through former Posta Rangers star Collins Neto.
At Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Western Stima came from a goal down to hold Sofapaka to a 1-1 draw.
The league is set to take a 19-day mid-season break on December 19 and shall resume on January 3.
