Gor’s Batambuze to be out for five months after successful knee surgery

Gor Mahia’s dependable left back, Shaffik Batambuze has finally undergone a knee surgery in his hometown Kampala Uganda.
Speaking exclusively to Milele FM Sports, the former Tusker FC, Singinda United and Western Stima player catered for the surgery himself with help from friends and relatives.
“As you know I had to raise the money (Sh 350,000) so as to undergo the surgery because it is my life and my career. I want to thank everyone who contributed and prayed for me, it was successful,” said Batambuze.
The Ugandan import suffered the injury on August 25 this year during Gor Mahia’s CAF Champions League match against Aigle Noir of Burundi as he limbed off from the pitch before the final whistle.
The nagging injury has been recurring and has been a serious hinderance to the 25 year old defender since last season.
Record KPL champions K'Ogallo who have missed his services for more than three months now, will now wait for at least five months for his return after the surgery that was done at Kouso International Hospital in Enttebe.
Batambuze is expected to be discharged from the hospital this Friday so as to begin his recovery process.
His contract with Gor Mahia ends in November 2020 and he will be keen to fight for his position that has been well taken care of by youthful Geoffrey Ochieng.
