KPL takes break to allow FKF Cup knock-out games
The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) takes a break this weekend to pave way for the Round of 32 fixtures of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Betway Cup.
Sixteen matches are lined up Saturday and Sunday with Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani, Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos and Camp Toyoyo in Jericho hosting double headers.
According to a circular from Football Kenya Federation (FKF), the entry fee of the double headers, save for the one in Jericho, is Sh100 in all areas.
The fans will part with a similar amount in the match between AFC Leopards and Elim FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale on Sunday.
In Jericho on Saturday, sparks are expected to fly when home team Jericho Revelation takes on Bidco from Thika from 1.00 pm before Tandaza engages Posta Rangers thereafter at the same venue from 3.30 pm.
Elsewhere at Ukunda Showground, last year’s semi finalists SS Assad will face visiting Fortune Sacco from Kerugoya as Nyabururu Sportiff plays hosts to Kisumu All Stars at Gusii Stadium.
At Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, nondescripts Egerton FC will have their work cut out when they come face to face with experienced KPL side Wazito as Transfoc seek for a place in the Round of 16 when they date NSL outfit Ushuru at Kenyatta Stadium in Kitale.
On Sunday, defending champions Bandari will be in Machakos to square it out with Kenya School of Government’s outfit Ogopa FC from 1.00 pm as Gor Mahia tackle Naivas in a late kick-off at the venue from 3.30 pm.
Here will be another mouth-watering match on the same day between Sofapaka and EPZ Balaji in the evening at Kasarani.
The winner of the tournament will receive Sh2 million besides a ticket to represent Kenya in the 2020 CAF Confederation Cup.
Runners-up will receive Sh1 million, third-placed Sh750,000 and fourth-placed Sh500,000.
