High-flying Migori Youth continued their impressive run in the Betika Super League as they thumped Administration Police 5-1 in at Camp Toyoyo yesterday.

Elisha Odhiambo notched a hat-trick while top scorer Clinton Okoth and Michael Boko had a goal apiece as the border boys made their hosts look ordinary and disjointed.

Migori captain Clifford Otieno and Robert Ouma were the engines of the midfield as they managed and utilised possession impeccably. AP skipper Julius Muteti had a poor game by his standards while Salim Mzee was frustrated all evening.

In the second half, the game began with a punch once again as the lively Migori Youth wingers run their markers rugged their offensive approach pining the law enforcers back.

Six minutes after the break, a wayward back pass from Dennis Makenzi was stolen by a smart pressing Odhiambo who beat Victor Ogolah with a low drive.

In the 77th minute, Nichodemus Asumwa got to the end of a Samuel Siro cross to head in past Gedion Ogweno to reduce the deficit but two goals in the last seven minutes killed the game off to push Migori Youth to 27 points, leaving coach Robert Ojienda a happy man.

“We played our hearts out and I am proud of the boys. I think it was a matter of patience and good execution because we found a way through and our forwards were ruthless enough,” Ojienda told People Sport.

Meanwhile, Nairobi Stima jumped one place on the log to third after a hard-fought 1-0 over Vihiga Bullets at Karuturi Grounds courtesy of Douglas Mokaya’s first-half strike.

Vihiga United had a bit of a wobble as they only settled for a 1-1 with lowly APS Bomet but are still second on the table standings with 32 points, six behind leaders Nairobi City Stars who beat Modern Coast Rangers 3-1 away.

Elsewhere, Shabana’s irregular campaign continued after losing 2-0 to Fortune Sacco.
