Gor Mahia Assistant Coach Sammy Omollo “Pamzo” says his side are ready to do battle away this weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup second round against Congolese side AS Otoho d’Oyo.

The local giants played two friendly matches in Kisumu against National Super League sides Shabana FC and Kisumu All-Stars FC played at the weekend.

K’Ogalo have been in residential training since the start of the Fifa international break two weeks ago.

Speaking to People Sport yesterday, Omollo believes the two build up matches were good to gauge preparedness of the players.

“This was an important phase for our players who have been out of action for three weeks. We needed something to keep them busy and it was also a bonding session together away from Nairobi. The only undoing was Sydney Ochieng getting injured and we hope it is not something that will keep him out for long,”he said.

Omollo added that the results were satisfactory. In the match against Shabana they won 2-1 but 24 hours later lost by the same margin to Kisumu All-Stars.

“It was what we expected because when competing teams in the lower leagues, they come at you hard. In the first match we played our CAF registered players and then the next match was basically mostly our new players.

Most important thing is what we are expecting because we have watched a couple of video clips so we will be ready and these friendlies have done us justice,” added Pamzo who confirmed the team will leave Nairobi for Congo Brazzaville on Friday in preparation for the Sunday first leg clash.
