There were plenty of goals this past weekend in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF)-Women Premier League as the title chasing teams went about their business with ease with all eyes at the top where there is neck to neck competition.

The leading duo of Vihiga Queens FC and Gaspo FC are still going head-to-head with none of the pair blinking an eye as they are currently tied on 28 points at the top. Gaspo beat relegation threatened Kangemi Ladies 6-1 with Vihiga thumping Kayole Starlets 3-0 at Mumias Complex. Vihiga who have lost three matches this season so far, lead the standings by virtue of the fact that they have scored more goals (35) albeit conceding nine goals .Gaspo on their part have scored 34 goals against eight conceded thus both are tied on a goal difference of +26.

Gaspo FC, who have in recent weeks been involved in what has been an interesting mini-battle with Vihiga Queens is steadily on the rise much to the irritation of the defending Champions. The team had a brilliant weekend with their goals coming through Lydia Akoth-43rd minute, Diana Wacera-46th minute, Emily Okute-58th minute, Anna Nabwire-60th minute, Miriam Orapidi-84th minute and a late Diana Wacera strike in the 91st minute. Kangemi Ladies had their consolation via Daisy Cherop in the 86th minute.

As for Vihiga Queens, they got their groove against the wanting Kayole Starlets with goals from Anita Namata in the 27th minute, Maurine Achieng in the 67th minute and Providence Mukalo in the 83rd minute. Queens who have led the season for nearly three-quarters of the campaign are eying a third title in five years but have to look at their shoulders over impending danger.

Chasing steadily are the duo of Thika Queens FC and Ulinzi Starlets FC who incidentally posted conflicting results. Both are on 25 points but the former has a better goal difference of +16 against the latter’s +15.Thika Queens were forced to a 2-2 draw away at Bunyore Starlets on Sunday with Ulinzi on their part winning 3-2 in an epic tie Saturday against Trans Nzoia Falcons FC at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

Elsewhere, Nakuru City Queens are keeping hope alive with their own pace and are currently fifth placed with 24 points off 13 matches. At the weekend,City Queens humbled eighth placed Kisumu All-starlets 3-0 at the ASK Nakuru Grounds with a goal difference of +10 to their name.All-Starlets who have had an inconsistent run thus far in the season, has five wins in 13 matches with 16 points in the bag.
